The Vakaros Atlas Edge multifunction instrument is the ultimate solution for sailors who want to make no technical compromises on the racecourse while adhering to the strict regulations of their boat class. The compact, waterproof (IP68), and lightweight (only 175 grams) device can be placed flexibly on board thanks to its integrated battery – completely without complex wiring.
The differences: Vakaros Atlas Edge vs. Atlas 2
The question of the difference between the two instruments often arises. The hardware of the Atlas Edge and the Atlas 2 is absolutely identical. The decisive difference lies exclusively in the software: The Vakaros Atlas Edge is configured to comply with the strict regulations of numerous boat classes (class-compliant). To ensure this approval for official competitions, certain tactical functions are deactivated in the Edge model that are available in the Atlas 2.
The following functions are not integrated into the Atlas Edge (due to class rules):
- Distance to starting line
- Time to starting line
- Bluetooth sensor integration (coupling external transducers)
- Backlight
If you need an instrument for regattas where these digital aids are prohibited, the Atlas Edge is the only permissible and safe choice.
The Vakaros Edge is RaceSense-compatible! The distance to the starting line is not displayed.
Vakaros Atlas Edge: Precise technology for maximum performance
Inside the Vakaros Atlas Edge, a state-of-the-art L1+L5 dual-band multi-constellation GNSS receiver operates at a clock rate of 25 Hz. This ensures extremely precise and delay-free positioning on the water. Together with the 3-axis compass and the sensors for heel and trim, all essential data such as SOG (Speed Over Ground) or the magnetic compass course are available in real-time. The glare-free 4.4-inch LCD, protected by robust Gorilla Glass, can be read excellently even in direct sunlight due to its extremely high contrast.
Intelligent energy management Another highlight is the long-lasting power supply. The internal 4600 mAh lithium-ion battery enables impressive runtimes of over 100 hours. After the race, the integrated data recording allows for a detailed analysis of the sailed course to further perfect one's tactics for the next competition.
The instrument is conveniently charged via a Qi-compatible charging pad, which is not included in the scope of delivery.
